Before beginning this collection, I was in a sort of stuck place and not feeling very creative at all. I was tired after moving my studio back home. I decided I needed to find something that was personally meaningful to get me going again. The first thing that came to mind was my love of watching the cycle of growing things at this time of year. As simple as that notion was, I was quickly energized to get the paint down in celebration of my love of gardens and wildflowers.
We wait all year for the magic of summer. There's just something so wonderful about living in perfect ease, not needing coats and boats and snow shovels. We can capture a bit of childhood freedom, renew our optimism and fill our spirits ... and maybe watch a firefly or two when the sun goes down over the garden.
